Talking to our lecturer about how to create the mountain scene and make it look different for each shot though-out the characters life. We decided to make a curved road to resemble the tracks that are used for events like the Tour de France, based on my previous research. Then I could design a flat plan and have motivational banners over the roads to add details along with trees. I could create smaller mountains and add a matt painting to create depth and detail without over complicating a section of the background that would not usually be seen. I could then develop a few different scenes at different times of the day to match with the story.
Alternatively I could model all aspects of the scene, if it looks too flat with a matt painting. However the painting would work well with the cubist style.
While researching into different famous cycling tours around Europe, I have decided that I will have a mountainous environment for the film to give a feeling of intimidation to the scene and to portray the feeling of fear. Looking at roads and objects commonly found in open areas, I have created a list of props that I would need to design and develop.
